We kidnapped Bono of U2 thanks to the Oilers' Gilbert Brule and forced him to sing lead vocals!
This creative collaboration started at a Kelowna, BC Tim Hortons on May 24, 2011 between sports voice, Ralph Hass (http://HasTheVoice.blogspot.com), and a homeless Johnny Cash impersonator known simply as Sir Edmund Thundermonkey the 5th. Ralph called in singer/songwriter Corey Doak (http://coreydoak.com) for the sound engineering and the wildly talented Jonathan Galbraith of Vancouver assembled this video tribute by June 2nd - a day after game one of the Stanley Cup finals against Boston. Way to go Raffi! Unfortunately, Boston won game 7 in Vancouver on June 15 for the Stanley Cup. My youngest son, Jordan, was very happy about that.
The photos in this video (and graphic at the end) are courtesy of Geoff Heith, a photographer based out of Abbotsford, BC. In addition to his photographic work he is a professional videographer with a background in graphic design. Geoff specializes in portrait, band and live event photography. Listen closely as CANUCK(S) is mentioned 15 times over the course of this 2011 tribute. On backing vocals? Lady Gaga? No... She did not agree to change her name to Lady Canucka... Justin Dueck helped out on backing vocals. He has the same name as Ralph's oldest son.
Thank you to the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks, Team 1040 Radio, CBC TV and Bill Clarke of Courtyard Law Offices for your advICE. You are ALL nICE hockey supporters!
Ralph Hass worked for AC/DC's record company in Canada, Warner Music, between 1991 and 1996. RH/DC ties in Ralph Hass and Doak, Corey. Thundermonkey is now pursuing a career selling vacuum cleaners.
