The Journey to the West is a beautiful myth about a Monk who travels over the dangerous mountains all the way from China to India.
He needs the help of one powerful Monkey King in order to defeat all the demons they will meet along the way.
Together they will have many great adventures, and will eventually make it to the Blissful Realm where the Buddha lives.
In this episode the monkey steals the fruits of the Peach Baby tree, a delicacy only designed for the immortals to enjoy.
He has to seek forgiveness from Quan Yin to restore the balance between the Heavens and the Earth.
Metaphorically speaking, we all have a monk and a monkey inside of us.
The monk represents our ability to know right from wrong, and to take life seriously so that we can make responsible decisions.
The monkey represents our ability to remain unattached to worldly things, to just enjoy life.
