Ah, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle --- a boondoggle among boondoggles!
This singular battlefield delight is a troop carrier that carries few troops under little armor... a Tank Destroyer that can't fight tanks while performing infantry ops, cannot survive a hit from a tank shell, and cannot take cover easily because it's too large... a Scout that's too conspicuous, threatening in appearance, and too HUGE to maintain the prerequisite low profile needed for scouting... and an Artillery Observer that's too big to hide, in order to survive while directing fire.
All for a low, low, low $4.5 Million a piece, to replace a few M113 Gavin variants that cost $300000 each!
It can't fly in a C-130, can't swim, can't withstand even light Anti-Tank weapons... is there anything it CAN do? If you think all of THAT isn't pathetic enough, just wait for later chapters, where I'll dissect the scam, one piece at a time!
