Wawa has been the temporary home for 151 evacuees from Sandy Lake. They have been in Wawa since July 20th when they arrived in the wee hours of the morning from Thunder Bay in a Greyhound Bus.
This was the last flight of evacuees. After enjoying a breakfast cooked and served by CAO Chris Wray, Mayor Linda Nowicki, Cathy Cyr, Cindy Lamon, Lori Johnson, Paul Parisee and other Muncipal Staff, Danette Mathias, Evelyn Stone; they boarded the last bus to the airport. Mayor Nowicki gave each person a "Wawa Goose Pin" and wished them a safe journey home.
