Even though the names were clearly fake to anyone that possesses a brain, the geniuses at KTVU then supposedly called the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to confirm the names, but were only able to speak to a summer intern, who incorrectly affirmed the accuracy of the names. It still remains unclear how exactly KTVU received the list of fake names or why the summer intern was able to confirm the names in the first place.

Both KTVU-TV and the NTSB have apologized for the mistake. KTVU said, "earlier in the newscast we gave some names of pilots involved in the Asiana Airlines crash. These names were not accurate despite an NTSB official in Washington confirming them late this morning. We apologize for this error."

"In response to an inquiry from a media outlet, a summer intern acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft," read the NTSB statement.

But in a new development, four Cantonese pilots: Captain Sum Ting Wong, Ho Lee Fuk, Wi Tu Lo and Bang Ding Ow are now planning to sue KTVU for dragging their good names through the mud. We can only speculate that actual flight crew of Asiana flight 214: Captain Kimchi, Bi Bim Bop, Bul Go Gi and Gang Bang Style are glad Americans can't tell us Asians apart.
