This simple arrangement of a reel, rope and mower is a great way to cut a lawn without breaking a sweat. I have been using this method for over five years. Once you have found and marked the center of the lawn the first time, it takes just minutes to set up and run. Divide the cutting width of your mower by 3.14 to obtain the optimum reel hub diameter. For a 22 inch mower this would come out to 7 inches or less. For lawns that are rectangular, setup a few landscape timbers on the edge of the long side and mount an old rollerblade wheel to the side of the mower deck. The mower will roll along the timber when the wheel hits it. Pulling out the flag stick on my mower cuts the ignition. See a high speed demo in part 2
