The Resident Evil 5 trailer caused a racial ruckus. The game's actual RELEASE was supposed to calm the storm. It didn't. It's time to ask the hard questions about race in the gaming world.

All Luke Cage needs is a hoodie.

hard truth: manga/anime characters are not "white" they're Asian. That's because its an art style that is actually really racially ambiguous with people of pale skin. IN the mostly black and white pages of Manga, white and asian look the same, or at least close enough to each other that its easy for the reader to just assume that the character is of the same race as them. Its why despite so many of them taking place and extremely fictional versions of "earth" the culture is damn near completely japanese!
Resident Evil 5 Still isn't racist, you talk about context than you need to realize the CONTEXT of the tribesmen in the game, where a special type of the Plaga parasite was injected into members of the Ndipiya tribe, causing them to become larger, stronger majini, and if you think them throwing speaks is racist you're just stupid. :)

You'd think that Capcom, an industry giant and about as mainstream as it's possible for a video game company to get, would have some idea in the bleedin' 21st century what lines not to cross. And get this: have no idea if spear chucking and bone necklaces are culturally accurate or offensive? You can look it up. COMPLETELY INEXCUSABLE. They deserved whatever pounding they got for this.

YOUR RIGHT IM BLACK AND I HATE TYLER PERRY. why do my mom make me watch that shit.....
"The Wiz" deserves special mention as the box office failure of the movie led to the cancellation of several major-studio projects that would have had predominantly black casts. As a result, the only cinematic choices Black people have is choosing between cheap direct-to-dvd action, stereotype-filled comedies, and "Salt and Pepper" parings.

Bob, I have to disagree with you that racism is the product of conscious choice. The MIT resume study quite clearly suggests that at least some racism is the product of subconscious processes. I sincerely doubt all those human resources people consciously make racist choices when choosing which resumes to accept because doing so would expose them to lawsuits. I'm quite sure that everyone involved genuinely believed they were choosing the most qualified candidates even though the fictional white guy and the fictional black guy had precisely the same qualifications in their resumes.
