Union Black was created as part of a Europe-wide project, Circus250 • Diverse • Real • Physical, delivered in collaboration with Far From The Norm by Crying Out Loud in partnership with Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde (France), Subtopia (Sweden) and Cork Midsummer Festival (Ireland). Emerging and established artists from the UK, Ireland, Sweden and France worked together to create a unique piece of work for London, Paris, Stockholm and Cork to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the formation of the modern circus in London in 1768.
Union Black is a vibrant mix of hip hop dance, theatre and circus. With a breathtaking combination of the dancers' fast-paced footwork and physical routines, alongside the strength and skill in Chinese pole and tight wire of the circus artists, the show channels one of the globe's favourite sports - football - to tackle questions about Europe before and after Brexit.
