This was a style of swaddling shown to us in our Newborn Care class. Kimberly Bepler, the doula teaching the class, developed this technique for the baby that can escape even the tightest swaddle. Our baby loves it and he's been able to sleep 8-10 hours a night since we started bat winging him. We just use a receiving blanket for the bat wings and place him into a velco Summer brand swaddler... we've also just wrapped another receiving blanket around him and the bat wings when the velcro swaddler hasn't been available.
Make sure to dress baby very lightly during the warm months to reduce the chance of overheating.
This has been a super effective for our baby and I hope it helps you too!
