The "comedia" was easily the most popular show during the town fiesta usually lasting for three nights excluding the performance on January 6th which ended the comedia. The "Ari" and the "Emperador" (King and Emperor) performed their roles from year to year, and even after they retired they were identified as such. The "Princesa" was usually the budding maiden of the town; every moment was a source of wolf whistle. The perennial clown is called the "bulbullagaw". The Bulbullagaw's pranks though oftentimes nasty, were enough to rouse acclaim by the children. The "lileon" in its feathery coat of dried banana leaves added to the festive air.

The services of the "comediantes" was a source of personal pride, and were rendered free.

In later years, everything had a price. Many of the traditional values died with the comedia.
