On December 4th and 5th, 2014 - The USC Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy and the USC Sol Price Center for Social Innovation - held a joint conference entitled Prioritizing Place: A National Forum on Place-Based Initiatives.
This conference was the culmination of a year-long inquiry into the state of philanthropic initiatives and public sector efforts to address geographically-concentrated poverty.
This plenary session will discuss how in principle, place-based initiatives can achieve scale through replication or incorporation into public policy. What have we learned about the realities of achieving scale? How should we view this challenge moving forward?
