Kendall Powell, Chairman & CEO of General Mill, was interviewed during a CNBC exclusive for International Corporate Philanthropy Day (ICPD). The interview focused on the philanthropic efforts of General Mills, such as their recent initiative to fight hunger in Africa. General Mills made an initial commitment of $5 million to their African Hunger project and have since logged in several hundred employee volunteer hours and over 200,000 hours of lab work from their food scientists and technologists. Since 2000 General Mills has contributed 5% of their pre-tax profits to philanthropy. The interview also touched on Powell's view on how CEO's from leading companies can play a role in budget reform and deficit control.
