On the eve of Veterans' Day, American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Veterans for Peace, KC Chapter and Iraq Veterans Against the War- Kansas City along with Artists Helping the Homeless staged the final display of the MO and KS Eyes Wide Open Cost of War exhibit and the Turning Combat Boots into Ploughshares: Boot Distribution to homeless veterans and other homeless area residents at Mill Creek Park, 47th Street and Main, KCMO. At the event over 250 pairs of combat boots and shoes were distributed to homeless veterans and other homeless individuals and to homeless services organizations. Ira Harritt, KC Program Coordinator for the American Friends Service Committee shared comments on transforming symbols of war into things that will keep homeless men and women's feet warm and dry this winter.
