Aside from our first video featuring Ben Olson, we began this season of Balcony TV Edmonton by showcasing both local and international talent that played Edmonton's Open Sky Music Festival. Starting (obviously) with Edmonton artists, we have since jumped across the globe, bringing you musicians from Australia, The United States, and other parts of Canada. To conclude our Open Sky series of videos, we return back to our hometown with local acoustic darling Jeff Morris. Jeff had a busy 2011, earning praise for his album 'Original Songs on a Borrowed Guitar,' winning two Edmonton Music Awards (he was nominated for six,) and playing as far from home as Las Vegas.
2012 is a year of preparation for Jeff as he works on a new record that will further his name and surely garner more praise for his acoustic style. He played for us an upbeat little ditty, crooning of barflies immersed in vicious cycles of self-medicating and destruction. Positive vibes! To learn more about Jeff's past, plans and when you can expect to get your grubby little mitts on a new record, check out Jeffmorrisonline.com. Get into it!
In other news, there's been big, enormous, earth-shattering, dinosaur-extincting (no, extincting is not a word,) developments in the Balcony world. To keep it simple, after all the hard-work of Balcony's creators, their crews that have sprouted across the globe, and most importantly all the awesome music, Balcony TV has secured some investors that will expand its reach and presence exponentially. I'm not sure any of us quite know what this means yet, but we'd like to offer our thanks for all of your support, viewership, and attention that has allowed for Balcony TV to grow in the ways it has. Cheers.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks, I promise you will not be disappointed. We shot at an alternative location a couple of weeks ago and we have some very special videos coming from Swear By The Moon, Van Funk and the Le Barons, and Edmonton's one and only masters of hip-hop, Politic Live. As always, thanks for watching Balcony TV Edmonton. Adios!
