Join us in the fireworks because July 1, 2013 is the "Spirit of 1776" Wagon Day in New York. It's the centennial of the horse-drawn wagon's first journey from Manhattan to Long Island on July 1, 1913. Votes for Women 2020 (http://votesforwomen2020.org) is working with the NYS Legislative Women's Caucus to bring the state's rich cultural history to the forefront in preparation for the 2017 New York State suffrage centennial and the national centennial in 2020.
For more information about the wagon, its history, and the suffrage activist Edna Buckman Kearns who used the wagon in NYC parades and grassroots organizing on Long Island. Celebrate the "Spirit of 1776" Wagon Day and help us celebrate New York as the cradle of the women's rights movement in the United States. Music: Kevin MacLeod
