Raats Original Chenin Blanc 2010 is the 10th vintage produced of the Original range by Winemaker Bruwer Raats. This premium quality wine is at its most natural, ensuring consistent quality and freshness.
Hints of Apple, Pineapple and Green Melon on the nose, with a Lime, Citrus and Ginger aftertaste. This wine shows great minerality and acid structure for future ageing. Easy to pair due to its wide flavour profile and comes highly recommended with curry and similar spicy dishes, sushi or oysters.
Produced from 35 year old bush and trellised vines. Wine is from both irrigated and un-irrigated vines. Soil specific and grown in decomposed granite and table mountain sandstone soils. Yield approximately 7 tons per ha of which the oldest block being used is 67 years of age. Grapes are picked in three sessions over mid-January to mid-February to enhance flavour diversity.
Grapes are vinified separately. The decomposed granite adding lime and a mineral character, with the Table Mountain sandstone contributing to the structure and offers a greater diversity of fruit flavours.
Juice is cold settled for 2 to 3 days. Cold fermented between 14 and 18 ̊C in stainless steel tanks. Aged on the lees for 6 months before bottling. No wood ageing.
