Bei einem Videoflug über Engelberg am 29. März 2014 entstanden schöne Aufnahmen. Der Flug nahm aber ein unerwartetes Ende.
While filming in Engelberg March 29th 2014 beautiful video material resulted. The end of the flight was undesired and not expected...
The cause of the crash was a pilot error on my part. I was distracted by technical issues prior to flight and failed to complete the pre flight check. I took off while having the flight controller (DJI NAZA) set to course-lock instead of normal mode. On the return flight this reversed the controls as the copter faced towards me. By pushing the stick forward the copter was flying away from me. I only realised what was going on when it was already too late.
Lesson learnt: As always when flying complete all checks before takeoff.
I did a small hike the next morning and recovered the copter. The copter was equipped with an RC beacon (lost model tracker) which can be of great help in this kind of situation. The beacon can be found here:
