Prince Harry went table-to-table for about an hour at the party at the Sanctuary Golf Club south of Denver.

He asked Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin, attending with her parents, for a rundown of her medals while he took some ribbing about the shrieking female fans who greeted his arrival in Washington from US Reps. Cory Gardner and Mike Coffman.

The Prince teased Franklin about why her medal collection did not include a silver, saying: "So you went straight from bronze to gold? What about silver? You skipped that one!"

Franklin was invited to the reception because she grew up in nearby Littleton. She will team up with Prince Harry again today when they both attend the opening ceremony of the Warrior Games.

She said: "I love the Royal Family. All my friends can't believe how lucky I am to be here. I think everyone just has so much respect for Prince Harry."

Harry is in Colorado to attend the Warrior Games this weekend in Colorado Springs. More than 200 wounded servicemen and women from the US and Britain will participate.

The visit is part of a weeklong visit to the United States that will also include trips to parts of New Jersey damaged by Superstorm Sandy. He'll end his trip by playing in the Sentebale Polo Cup match in Greenwich, Connecticut.
