Mechanism to Protect Tropical Forests -- (Bio-REDD): What's after COP 17! | PRESENTER: Michael Sweatman, General Manger at Green Mountain Capital | 05/04/12

Dispersed rural economies create a dynamic which demands increased application of both low-cost technologies to harness the conservation potential of small communities and replicable methodologies to incorporate livelihood considerations into carbon, biodiversity, and water PES. REDD+, an initiative developed by the United Nations within the climate change agenda, provides a financial mechanism that can coalesce these value into viable and sustainable rural development.

This event is part of the weekly Gund Tea Series, an opportunity for affiliates of the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics and the broader University community to engage in robust discussion about topical research, current events, and relevant theory. The Teas host visiting scholars and research associates from around the world, as well as some of the Gund's very own fellows & students.

A Production of the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics, an affiliate of the Rubenstein School for Environment & Natural Resources at the University of Vermont
