I was filming the Occupy Wall Street West protest. Shortly after I filmed SFPD club peaceful protesters, I filmed SFPD pepper spray protesters who were taunting them. They then pepper sprayed me. I was immediately blinded. This was potentially very unsafe as crowds tend to panic when the police started clubbing and pepper spraying people. Thankfully, protesters and medics took care of me. Because it was raining, the pepper spray kept dripping off my hair and back into my eyes keeping me blinded. (I could not see for 45 minutes - an hour.) Protesters guided me to safety, located medics who began to treat me, and eventually secured my gear in a ziplock bag and stowed it in my backpack which is where the footage ends. At :41 you see a SFPD cop use his club multiple times. At 3:14 you see a SFPD cop come forward and yell at protesters. Immediately after that, At 3:18 you can see a SFPD cop come from behind and pepper spray protesters. At 3:27 you can see a SFPD cop use his club. At 3:29, you see a protester grab his eyes. I was hit at the same time. I start calling for a medic. Veteran Scott Olsen, who was critically injured by Oakland police can be seen briefly at 4:09. Multiple calls for medics continued while chants of "The cops protect the 1%" can be heard in the background. Somehow, in spite of being blinded, I managed to hold the camera fairly steadily until it was taken from me and secured in a plastic bag and stowed in my backpack around 5:00. It was still rolling, so you have audio til the end. There is other footage out there that also supports the fact that NOTHING was thrown at police and that they are the ones that instigated violence. Sadly, mainstream media takes what police say as factual and don't bother to fact check the veracity of the information they are given and reports hugely inaccurate stories.
