An examination of the propulsion mechanism proposed for the movie "Avatar" by which we might go to Alpha Centauri in six years. This system fails by way of the Second Law of Thermodynamics and no possible advances in technology can make it work.
For the record ... it is impossible to go to another star by any mechanism in times on the order of a human lifespan ... IF ... the presently known laws of physics are valid. Those proposing such schemes never take into account the power output of what they are designing. It's a real idea killer.
