On 10 October 2013 the Museum of London was resplendent with guests displaying dazzling pendants, stunning brooches, captivating cufflinks and bejewelled necklaces for the opening of The Cheapside Hoard: London's Lost Jewels.

An exhibition nearly 400 years in the making, this was the first chance to see the mysterious Cheapside Hoard -- an Elizabethan treasure trove thought to be a jeweller's stock-in-trade, discovered buried in the City of London over 100 years ago.

The museum welcomed guests from both the arts and museum worlds, along with jewellery experts, fashion designers, writers and artists who all came to steal a glimpse of this precious treasure ahead of the public opening. Find out what some of them thought of the Cheapside Hoard.

The Cheapside Hoard: London's Lost Jewels opens today and finishes on 27 April 2014. The exhibition is sponsored by Fabergé, Gemfields and Coutts, and supported by the Blavatnik Foundation.
