LUDLOW, Ky (WKRC) -- Family and friends of a woman who was shot by her estranged husband have been rallying in support of her.A benefit was held for Alisha Waters at the Ludlow Vets Hall Saturday to help with medical expenses. She was shot in August as she arrived for work in Fort Thomas by her estranged husband. Waters is now a quadriplegic and is in a rehabilitation center in Atlanta but attended the event in spirit and on videotape. Her appearance touched a crowd which included family, friends and coworkers. It was an emotional moment when Alisha Waters spoke to her family and friends via videotape. The theme of the benefit was it's a marathon and not a sprint. Alisha's mother says her daughter has to be reminded she won't get better overnight. Doctors have told the family Alisha may never walk again but not to give up hope. Her mother says her daughter just wants her life back. While it was heartwarming to see Alisha on videotape, those attending the benefit wished she had been there in person.
