A 28 yo Mortdale man, Nathan Paul Crookston, has claimed self defense after being accussed of king-hitting a police officer in Sydney's west. Mr Crookston's legal aid lawyer said the customer service representative gave a "very, very different version of what happened." His flatmate Daryl McIntyre was also arrested and charged after being tasered in the confrontation with police. McIntyre allegedly resisted arrest, but was eventually cuffed by officers. Paramedics removed the taser probes from his back. The NSW Police has used this incident to renew calls for tougher alcohol bans.
