High gas pressure in MIG and TIG gas delivery hose causes significant shielding gas waste at each weld start. Measure the pressure with our WAT PTD and use it to demonstrate why the "gas blast" at the weld start causes significant gas waste, often 40 to 50% of the gas used. Also discussed is our inexpensive, patented Gas Saver System that reduces gas waste typically 40 to 50% or more. It also improves weld start quality. Other methods of attempting to reduce the gas surge and waste like low pressure devices and orifices have often caused welder (and management) frustration because they did not work. We show the reasons for these problems.
