This is why I teach.... The excitement is obvious on this little girls face as she "breaks the code". Reading with expression, fluency and comprehension are all important, but decoding has to come first. And if a child needs to hold a book in a position other than "right-side-up" it doesn't really matter. Once she is successful reading she will gradually flip the book over and read conventionally, too.
