Rifles are the opposite of Shotguns for purposes of gameplay. They have unlimited range and deal large damage at a distance, but horrible damage at point blank range.
A number of Rifle Competencies are also rechargeable, unlimited-use abilities.
Competencies shown in the video include:
Point Blank - Rechargeable Rifle attack that deals 3x damage and uses the Shotgun's damage formula. Useful for when an enemy corners your sniper. Heavy Shot - Rechargeable Rifle attack that inflicts knockback. Also useful for when an enemy is closing in on your sniper. Shadow Tag - Rifle attack that causes an enemy to be invisible to other enemies. Normally, when enemies see their allies in combat, they join them, but Shadow Tag prevents this. Useful for pulling. Shield to Rifle Juggle Pierce - "Juggling" weapons from a Shield to a Rifle will cause the next Rifle attack to deal 3x damage and ignore enemy defense.
