Oswego's roots in education span back 150 years, when college founder Edward Austin Sheldon pioneered a new combination of teacher training with in-class preparation when he launched the Oswego Primary Teachers' Training School. Within two decades, the Oswego Method swept the country and the world, with the college's lessons, theories and graduates helping revolutionize education everywhere. Today, SUNY Oswego's School of Education remains true to its founder's principles while continuing to blaze new trails in teaching and learning.
