Although I now run Planetwork Networking Events, I actually produced this video when I was the Area Director of BNI in Avon & Monmouth.
Planetwork and BNI are like 'Chalk & Cheese', but both are potentially great.
BNI is a membership style, structured, disciplined networking organisation that works on the basis of 'Referral Marketing', which is all about building a smaller network of strong, deep business relationships that will prosper for many years.
Planetwork is a very casual, very low cost, zero membership organisation that is great for business people that are anxious about making presentations, the weekly commitment, and the requirement to bring a contribution. Using great Facilitators, attending Planetwork events will ensure that you get to people in the room that are great for you. As you gain confidence, you may make the decision to join a more structured organisation, such as BNI or 4N, but there will never ever be any commitment to do so.
If you're new to networking, look up www.planetwork.eu for some great networking tips.
Other casual networking events are usually about about walking into a room with loads of people, and the majority of us tend to look around for a friendly face that we cling onto. There are lots of other people in the room, some of whom may potentially become great clients or suppliers, but because we don't know who they are, we would be very lucky to find them. Planetwork will never be like this.
The main reason I set up Planetwork was to create more awareness of Advocater Ltd, a catering consultancy company, comprising CaterConsult, CaterEquip and CaterClean.
If you want to find out more about Planetwork (www.planetwork.eu) or Advocater (www.advocater.co.uk), please email me at email@example.com.
I do still believe strongly in organisations like BNI, and am happy for this video that I commissioned to be shown. The film was produced by Jason Flinter and Adam Millbank.
