Oh my god. OH MY GOD.
Listening to this song, I was like "wait wait, the music's incredibly familiar...no way." Then I just fan-spazzed all over the place.
kimino-museum in this song is referencing Tokyo Jihen, the band of J-Rock singer Shiina Ringo, one of my favorite Japanese bands ever. Not to mention they're using one of the best Yuuka themes to do so.
The music, in case you don't know, is a recreation of Killer Tune. /watch?v=PFZR_n86CxY
The title actually alludes to another Tokyo Jihen song. Romanized, the title is "Kazami Yuuka no Gunjo Biyori," and Gunjo Biyori was the first single of Tokyo Jihen. /watch?v=qfaYiUpMfXw
From what I can tell, this arrange doesn't borrow anything other than the title of Gunjo Biyori.
I can't express my feelings here. It's just too cool to see two of my favorite things mixed together, the music of Touhou and the music of Tokyo Jihen~
The good thing about this arrange is that they didn't just recreate the melody of Killer Tune flat-out. They added their own flair, evident from the piano (which always stands out in kimino-museum's works) and guitar work. This is just a great arrange, par for the course for kimino-museum.
I haven't listened to 723 enough on her own to tell if she's trying to emulate Shiina Ringo here. I don't think she is. Her vocals are nice, but I'm used to Cherose for kimino-museum songs. Though this arrange wouldn't have worked without a female vocalist.
