Pray the Lotus Sutra Soul Song is a song whose title means exactly what it means; "A Soul Song." This song is written, produced and recorded by Anthony "Amp" Elmore who is President and Founder of the "Proud Black Buddhist World Association." Elmore believes that there should be "equality in Buddhism." Elmore has been a Nichiren Buddhist for over 40 years and Elmore challenges the way Buddhism is taught by most Asians.
Elmore complaints that most Asians have extricated African and African/American history and culture from the Buddhist religion. In this recording and video Elmore purposefully wrote and song this song in the traditional "Black Culture" apologetically. Elmore notes that we people of African decent have a beautiful musical history and tradition of singing expressing our emotions. In this song Elmore purposefully integrates a Buddhist Song in the tradition of the Black Church in America. Most of the famous African American singers get their musical training in the "Black Church." Elmore clearly integrates Black Culture with his Buddhist Lotus Sutra prayer song.
