In the spring of 2014, students in the Evergreen upper division science program Molecule to Organism undertook a study of the snails in Washington State. For more than a week, they traveled the state collecting observing both snail populations and their food preferences at different locations. Upon their return to campus, they divided into teams to identify and document their finds. The work gave students with interests in molecular biology, plant biology, and ecology an opportunity to apply their interests in a team study. In this One Minute Evergreen, faculty Clarissa Dirks describes the project and its importance.
