Miguel Llobet was the most famous pupil of the great Francisco Tárrega. He was a brilliant guitar virtuoso and composed only an handful of pieces for the guitar. His most popular work are his sophisticated arrangements of catalan folksongs, the Canciones Populares Catalanes. La Filla Del Marxant is one of them. In the first part the melody is played with a technique called artificial harmonics, an effect making the guitar sound like a musical clock.
