Hunting hurricanes

With a plane named Miss Piggy, Tampa-based Hurricane Hunters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration do just what their job title says – they fly into hurricanes and other tropical disturbances. Their work researching the weather conditions inside of a hurricane helps meteorologists better predict a storm’s track, which helps emergency managers plan which areas need evacuation, thereby saving lives.
