This brief video shares the school opening ceremony of one of Port-au-Prince's biggest girls' primary schools. The complex serves one of the most underprivileged communities in Port-au-Prince and was destroyed after the 2010 earthquake.
2 blocks have now been rebuilt to be bigger, disaster resilient, and multi-functional thanks to the support of Thinking Development, the Digicel Foundation and Misean Cara, along with hundreds of crowdfunding donors and development planning volunteers around the world.
To support the last phase of construction, which aims to make the school energy independent and able to generate income to subsidise tuition, you can donate through our Virgin Money Giving Page here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fund...
Or join us in London for an evening of fundraising, discussion and celebrations of our collaborative achievements. The event, sponsored by the UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction, will happen on the 7th anniversary of the earthquake, January 12th, 2017. You can buy a ticket at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/haiti-ea...
In addition to the music from the school opening ceremony, this video includes the track 'Arcade Paradise' by Scott Holmes from the Free Music Archive.
