Chako here from Wetpaint Entertainment with a rebuttal to our friends over at IGN, who say their love for True Blood has cooled. What the what? While we totally respect their boredom with things that are sexy and scary and awesome, we here at Wetpaint Entertainment are still big fans of True Blood, and here's why!

Reason number 1: The show is unpredictable. Bill was Sookie's one true love — until he wasn't. Hoyt was the world's best boyfriend — until he turned into the world's worst ex. Lafayette was a V-dealing prostitute and is now a powerful medium who'll likely help take Antonia down, And Tara? Well, Tara's always good for a "WTF?" See? There are no rules in True Blood and you're never sure who you can trust. Just like, y'know, life? Except with more biting.

Our second reason? There are no good guys. Remember that time Sookie dumped the remains of Russell's lover down the disposal and laughed maniacally as Russell wept? Even our sweet little Daisy-Duke-wearing moral center has a dark side. And she's pretty much the only one who's never actually murdered an innocent person.

Reason number three: Having a huge cast is just fine, IGN — even if they're in constant mortal (or immortal) danger. Yeah, Jessica almost got roasted and Sookie got capped, and they both lived — so what? It's the ultimate tease to constantly have main characters bobbing in and out of almost certain doom. Besides, there have been lots of metaphorical deaths that have completely transformed some of our favorite characters — Eric having his memory wiped, Bill transforming into the cold King of Louisiana, Tara switching teams after Franklin. Maybe you guys over at IGN will understand us a little better if we use this analogy: True Blood is a bit like the O.G. Star Trek, where interloping supernaturals and humans are equivalent to red-shirted ensigns. In other words, you don't need to constantly sacrifice main characters to make a show interesting.

And last, but certainly not least: Because it's a big, fat, dirty fantasy. Vampires, werewolves, and witches tap into our most primal instincts — sex and fear — and True Blood is the only show out there that turns the subtext into text, hardcore. You won't see blood-covered boobies on The Vampire Diaries, and wouldn't you miss them?

Yes, we'll agree that True Blood is uneven. It's basically "Blood! Dirt! Sex! Death! Rinse, Repeat," so it can't be disciplined or restrained — and you'd hate it if it tried. So do you agree with us or IGN? Sound off in the comments below or join the heated conversation on our Facebook page at http://www.Facebook.com/TrueBloodFansite. Peace!
