A common problem that homeowners face is controlling mold and mildew in the home. This situation should not be taken lightly. Exposure to mold can cause potential health problems for you and your family. But there is a remedy. Follow these steps to help rid your home of mold and mildew to keep your home healthy.

Black mold is the the black and green spots that gather where there is extra moisture such as the bathroom and the kitchen. The first step is to locate where mold and mildew will grow. Places like leaky pipes or under rugs can not only ruin the pipe and rugs health, but can also damage floors and woodwork. It is important to rid and fix these solutions.

And effective solution to clean mold with is 1/3 part bleach and 2 parts water. Bleach and diluted bleach should not be mixed with any other chemicals to prevent breathing in harmful gases.

Showers and Tiles
In showers, work from the top of the should down to the drain. For tiles, spray the bleach on, wait 10 minutes and rinse with warm hot water. Caulk that has been affected by mold and mildew will need to be removed with a putty knife and reinstalled. Use a sealant with antimicrobial to prevent mold and mildew from occurring.
