Detectives Seek Two Persons of Interest in Camden Homicide

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Camden County Police Department are seeking the public’s help in identifying two individuals captured on surveillance video after leaving the scene of a homicide.

Camden County Police were dispatched at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 to the Northgate I Apartments for a report of a person shot.

Officers arrived and found the victim, Johnathan Simmons, 19, of Camden, lying in the rear lot of the building. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m.

Two persons of interest who ran from the scene and traveled south on North 6th Street were captured on surveillance cameras as they went through the DRPA tunnel beneath the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. They then continued onto Penn Street by Rutgers University-Camden.

One individual was a black male wearing a lightweight striped Hollister hooded sweatshirt, light colored shorts and light colored boonie hat. The other was a black male wearing a black Nike shirt, light colored pants and a dark baseball cap.
