AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, Inc., and US Airways Group, today announced that the boards of directors of both companies have unanimously approved a definitive merger agreement under which the companies will combine to create the world's largest airline, with an implied combined equity value of approximately $11 billion based on the price of US Airways' stock as of February 13, 2013. Imagine how you'd feel if the Federal Government disbanded the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds. Well perhaps you can appreciate the outrage sweeping through Switzerland with news that their beloved Patrouille Suisse will be grounded after 2016.
