Marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yad Vashem, the Jewish people's memorial to the six million victims murdered in the Holocaust, held an international youth conference in Jerusalem. Representatives from over 65 countries participated in the conference, intensively studying the Holocaust and pledging to carry the torch of Holocaust remembrance well into the 21st century. President of the State of Israel Shimon Peres met with the delegates at Yad Vashem and discussed with them some of the most pressing issues facing humanity. Sitting here on a panel with Chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate Avner Shalev and Head of Yad Vashem's International School for Holocaust Studies Dorit Novak, President Peres reflects upon the obligation of the next generations to ensure the establishment of a better and more perfected world, a place where such tragedy will never happen again.
