Charles Paccione's story perfectly demonstrates the power of a Sarah Lawrence education. As a pre-med student and violinist, Charles is pursuing all of his passions: science, philosophy, Asian studies, and music. Charles is actively engaged in an exciting and original research project looking at the benefits of meditation in the medical field. Combining science with Buddhist philosophy, music, and psychology, Charles was able to apply his liberal arts education to real life practices in meditation by working with combat veterans suffering with PTSD and by starting a program at Albert Einstein Medical School in which he uses meditation as a clinical intervention in treating depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia, fatigue, and pain in cancer patients.
