For Season of the Ukulele 148, here’s Fleffikon performing “In the Court of the Crimson King”, from the first King Crimson album, which came out in 1969. The theme for this season is “seventy”, as our host is turning seventy this week, and this tune qualifies because the man who penned the lyrics to the tune, Peter Sinfield, is also seventy years old (he’ll turn seventy one on December 27).
The track features Brian Fergus on ukulele and singing, Anais Lowe on breath-activated digital mellotron, and Borfus Wallaby on U-Bass and background vocals.
In addition to the above players, the video features headshots of actual people with makeup and costumes who are hobbyists who made themselves up as the characters of the Purple Piper, the Keeper of the City Keys, the Black Queen, and the Fire Witch. I found their images on the web and decided they had the right “sophisticated cheeze” feel for this video. Here’s the url for their website: http://www.costume.org/gallery2/v/bru...
Careful viewing will reveal a cameo appearance by an honored Seasonista, whose video work on the Ukulele Underground was an inspiration for this video.
