Babuji memes got Alok Nath work again in TV, films -BT
Actor Alok Nath, who became an internet sensation sometime ago courtesy the Babuji memes, doesn't mind all the jokes floating around him on social media. "It's because of all the jokes that I became popular and got roles in comedy shows like Nadaniya and Badi Dooooor Se Aaye Hain. I thoroughly enjoyed doing these shows because I got the chance to step out of my comfort zone. Fortunately, I have started getting comedy roles in movies too and am doing a cameo in an upcoming Bollywood film," says Alok. The actor, who is remembered for his innumerable roles as father in films like Hum Saath Saath Hain and Maine Pyar Kiya, has even done a few lead roles in films and television, but none of them left a lasting impression. "When I started with Ramesh Sippy's Buniyaad in 1985, I was in my mid-20s and within a year, I was elevated from a lover to a father and then to a grandfather. By the time the show finished, I was portraying the role of an 80-year-old man. I believe that our viewers have a short memory span, so they forgot that I started out as a young guy and only remember the image of the old man. It was after this show that I became popular as Babuji. After Buniyaad, I acted in a few movies as the main lead, but that did not work out well."
