While reducing weight leads to a jump in fuel economy, we must also ensure that rigidity and collision safety performance are maintained. We began developing the SKYACTIV-BODY from scratch, by defining the desired functionality and creating a structure to match it. We also included the most suitable construction methods and materials. We managed to achieve an 8% weight reduction as well as a 30% improvement in rigidity. SKYACTIV-Body also meets the highest crash safety standards in the world.
