Advanced Health and Care looked at several companies to provide them with a drugs database but it was the API and the easy toolkit that FDB could provide that made FDB the first choice of provider. At the time the clinical team at Advanced Health and Care were only three strong and didn't have the expertise to develop the drug database.
Advanced Health and Care now have access to all the pharmacists, nurses and doctors at FDB and this has proved very useful on occasion. For example when the flu pandemic struck, several customers were using an unlicensed drug 'oseltamivir' and upon request FDB were able to quickly put this onto the drug database to ensure customers could start prescribing it.
Advanced Health and Care have never received any complaints from users about the service they get from FDB.
Adastra (An Advanced Health and Care product) is mainly used by GP's and Doctors working after hours in the urgent care environment, in that situation they don't have full clinical details about the patient so it is very important they have good clinical support to help them with making prescribing decisions.
The key benefit of working with FDB is a true partner relationship. FDB has taken the time to understand the needs of Advanced Health and Care customers. An example of this is when Advanced Health and Care, while working in Ireland, took the time to understand the prescribing functionality for the Irish GP's as they have different prescribing requirements to the rest of the UK. FDB went out and met some of these customers to find out exactly what they needed.
A next step for Adastra was to move across to a drug database that was fully dm+d coded. FDB, rather than just map across to all drugs from the current database produced an API in a .net framework perfect for Advanced Health and Care's needs.
Advanced Health and Care pointed out that for over 10 years they have worked with FDB and during that time FDB have not let down at all.
