At TEDxSydney 2010, organising committee member Julian Morrow delivered a hilarious summary of the day's talk topics, speakers and performances, all written and rehearsed during the course of the event.
In 2011, Morrow's colleague at The Chaser, Craig Reucassel continues the tradition.
Well-known to Australians for his adroit social commentary via The Chaser, Craig delivers a thoughtful and erudite summation of the day's proceedings and issues a compelling challenge to turn the presented "ideas worth spreading" into action.
Craig Reucassel was a founding editor of The Chaser newspaper. With the Chaser he has gone on to do shows on the ABC such as The Election Chaser, CNNNN and The Chaser's War on Everything. He also hosted the drive shift Today Today on Triple J for two years. Craig is married, has three children and plans to sleep in 2020.
TEDxSydney 2011 took place on Saturday 28 May 2011 at CarriageWorks. Tens of thousands of people enjoyed the day: 800 in the theatre, over 1,000 via big screen simulcast in The Forum, up to 48,000 online via YouTube ... and up to 80,000 tuning in to ABC Radio National. It was a grand day.
About TEDx, x = independently organised event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
