Montesquieu Winery shares a look into the timeless region of Champagne and the production process.
In Champagne there are mainly huge Champagne producers with very high volume production. There are an estimated 15,000 growers in Champagne, a great majority selling to the big Champagne houses—very few, such as Jerome Dehours actually focus on making their own, distinctive limited production Champagne.
Montesquieu Winery is the exclusive importer of Jerome Dehours into the United States.
Montesquieu Wines are limited production, focusing on mainly boutique, family owned vineyards like those of Dehours.
Dehours is famous, and greatly respected, for low dosage style yielding fresh and pure qualities without added sugars masking the varietal characteristics. 90% of the champagne consumed today is a blend of different vintages, yielding a non-vintage champagne.
Excessive reliance on blending can mask the potential the best wines are capable of attaining.
Vintage Champagne, with the quality and balance of acidity and fruit can cellar extremely well, developing beautifully for many years.
