Recorded by East Lancashire Concert Band (formerly Accrington Old Band, established in 1842) at the Civic Arts Centre, Oswaldtwistle. Conducted by Musical Director Dale Grindrod.
In late 2012 during early planning for commemoration of the centenary of the Accrington Pals, a piano manuscript composed in 1914 by Ralph Sanders was retrieved from Accrington Library archives. The date suggests that it was almost certainly composed to celebrate the recruitment of the "Pals" battalions at the outset of WW1. Research has revealed that Accrington Old Band led the newly formed Pals battallion past the Town Hall in September 1914.
This march has been arranged for modern concert band by Nick Bonneville and was recorded by the East Lancashire Concert Band on Sunday 17th February 2013.
The first public broadcast of the piece was on BBC Radio Lancashire a few days later.
It will be performed during WW1 and Accrington Pals commemorations.
