Are you a blasphemer? That doesn't mean that you have blasphemed against the Holy Spirit? Blasphemers should beware, though, blasphemies against the Lord, God, His name and almost anything you can think of is forgivable, but there still remains one blasphemy (of the Holy Ghost) that shall never be forgiven, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
1) Blasphemer - person who blasphemes. 2) To Blaspheme - to utter, speak blasphemies about. 3) Blasphemy - irreverent talk about sacred things. 4) Blasphemous - disrespectful, irreverent, profane, sacrilegious, sinful, ungodly, wicked. ------- Definitions and descriptions of Blasphemy:
Catholic Encyclopedia - gross irreverence towards any person or thing worthy of exalted esteem.
Jewish Encyclopedia - Evil or profane speaking of God.
Wikipedia - the act of showing contempt or lack of reverence towards religious or holy person or things. In some countries with a state of religion, blasphemy is outlawed under the criminal code. E.G. Insulting Mohammed in Pakistan is a capital offense and defiling the Koran (Quran) can carry life imprisonment.
Old Testament Torah - Leviticus 24:16 says that anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to death (Old Testament Law not enforced today).
Judaism - can simply be the act of cursing or reviling God.
Theology - the crime of assuming oneself the rights or qualities of God.
--------------------- Bottom Line ---------------------
All of these things are forgivable, but...
Mark 3:28-29, "Verily I say unto you, 'All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blasphem: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.'
"Because they said, 'He hath an unclean spirit.'"
Watch the tape for all of the references in the Word of the Lord, but even with theses 2 verses of Scripture from the Bible, you can see that all sins and blasphemies whall be forgiven EXCEPT the blaphemy against the Holy Ghost.
That should prompt 2 reactions from all of us: 1) I'm so happy that there isn't anything that I can do that would be so bad that God wouldn't forgive me for it; 2) that is, unless I blaspheme the Holy Ghost, so I should be sure to know what this is, and that I never ever, ever do it, for it is the only thing that is unforgivable with God.
