Damien Memorial School's valedictorian, Ethan Dayton, said he didn't want to do one of those clichéd "thanks-have-a-great-life-don't-die" speeches. So he pulled out a MP3 player and sang part of his valedictory address. Audience and classmates were in stitches.
Dayton graduated with a 4.26 GPA on Sunday, May 26 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu, Hi. He will attend highly regarded Carleton (Minn.) College.
Damien president and CEO Bernard Ho said Dayton has been a "straight A" student since seventh grade at the school.
The commencement exercises were Damien's 48th.
